چکیده

Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) is one of the most valuable shellfish resources in Mediterranean and northeast Atlantic. Sustainable management its fishery require long-term scientific monitoring stocks. Population dynamics, fishery, exploitation status were studied over a long time series (between 2008 2014) semi enclosed gulf Easter (Pagasitikos Gulf). Sampling was carried out using commercial bottom trawl with codend mesh size 28 mm three different regions within Gulf. Sex identified macroscopically all individuals measured weighed. Growth Age groups investigated by analysis length–frequency distributions Carapace length (CL) for both sexes. Fishing, Natural Total Mortality, along Exploitation rate total stock estimated FiSAT software package. Females further examined classified based on their maturity stage at onset sexual Probit analysis. Temporal differences mean CL detected sexes, tendency lower values each year, respective increase Fishing Mortality Rate, indicating effects fishing pressure population. Size 32.6 mm, higher than official sizes creels (28 mm) gillnets (26 mm). According to analyses, local over-exploited, which should be taken under consideration regional policy makers.

Population biology of the Norway lobster, Nephrops norvegicus (L.) in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland I: Growth and density

The density, size composition and growth of Nephrops norvegicus were examined at six sites in part of the Firth of Clyde, SW Scotland, between 1990 and 1992. Sampling was carried out using small mesh trawls and by an underwater television camera. The growth of male Nephrops at each site was investigated by analysis of length–frequency distributions using the computer program ‘‘Multifan’’. Estim...

Development of different damage pathways in Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) stored under different chilling systems

Slurry ice is a biphasic system that has recently shown a number of advantages when employed as a chilling medium for fish species. Its use for a crustacean species of high commercial value -namely Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus)was evaluated in parallel to traditional flake icing. Quality parameters related to microbial spoilage and biochemical breakdown (aerobe and psychrotroph counts, p...

Comparing Trawl and Creel Fishing for Norway Lobster (Nephrops norvegicus): Biological and Economic Considerations

This study compares the fishing activity and landings of the trawl and creel fisheries for Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus (L.)) off the Portuguese coast, and evaluates the financial viability of two vessels typical of each fleet. Crustacean trawlers are part of an industrial fleet that, besides Nephrops, targets deep water shrimps. Creels are used by a multi-gear, multi-target artisanal fl...

Effects of emersion and re-immersion on physiological and immunological variables in creel-caught and trawled Norway lobster Nephrops norvegicus.

Immune defence in creel-caught and trawled Nephrops norvegicus was investigated to assess a possible relationship between phenoloxidase (PO) activation and the total haemocyte count (THC). Capture, capture method and emersion evoked physiological and immunological responses that may have implications for the ability of N. norvegicus to survive the effects of such stressors. Haemolymph THC was a...

Distribution and seasonal prevalence of Hematodinium sp. infection of the Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) around the west coast of Scotland

Around Scotland, coastal stocks of the commercially important Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus), particularly those within the Clyde Sea Area (CSA), have for some years been known to be infected by syndiniid dinoflagellate endoparasites of the genus Hematodinium. The prevalences of infected Norway lobsters in trawl samples from the CSA are reported for 1992–1995, together with similar data f...
